Coolaroo Triangle Shade Sail Lesli R. Messinger #2009-06-12- Exactly as described, delivered when expected, excellent quality. It did take some thought to configure where best to attach the three corners. There isn't any "stretch" to the material, however, that is a plus because it stays where you hook it. The color, Desert Sand, looks great with our house and deck. The shade does not block the view of our trees and golf course when looking out from the windows of our home. I highly recommend the Shade Sail for shading an area while keeping with the aesthetics of your landscape.
Nice Shade, Great Price megby #2009-06-09- Our local store was selling this for twice Amazon's price, so the price was great. Installation went okay I suppose. Overall it wasn't too difficult except they wanted the hole for the post to be 2ft diameter by 4ft deep ... any idea how hard it is to dig a hole with those dimensions? Would have been MUCH easier with an auger, but didn't want the added expense. Now that the sail is up though, it's great and I highly recommend for a quicker, cheaper option than building a covered porch or pergola. Also, it comes down really easily when the Oklahoma winds pick up, which is a plus.
Coolaroo Triangle Shade Sail Rich #2009-08-19- Great product. It's very well made and easy to install. What a difference it has made in cooling down our deck area from the hot afternoon sun. It lets plenty of air and light through and looks nice. We've received tons of compliments and comments on how cool it is underneath. Just make sure whatever you attach it to, is strong enough to hold it.
Excellent product Pete #2009-08-15- This was the perfect product to cover my patio. I have an L shape with two walls bracketing two sides of my patio. I was able to put this right into the corner. Keep in mind this is an equilateral triangle and doesn't have a right angle....HOWEVER...I got mine to fit by attaching to opposite sides of the L and then knotting the third corner short to fit into the corner of my patio. Works and looks great. This looks good and gets lots of compliments. Seems like it will hold up good. The hardware seems sturdy. Has held up to several big storms so far, and you can take down quickly if you want to. Doesn't keep the rain from coming through and it's not made to. Stretched out a little due to rain/wind, but all you have to do is screw the hooks tighter to eliminate the sag. I got mine for about [....]I think for the 16 footer. Great deal, very pleased. Seems to be a much higher quality than other ones I looked at. Prices look high currently...[...] had these too but were sold out when I was purchasing.
great sun shade Cece #2009-06-25- This sun shade not only blocks out unwanted hot sun...it also adds art and wonderful design to your patio area. I'm 100% satisfied with this magical piece of fabric!
Better than the average shade J. Isabelle #2010-08-25- So, a little over a year ago, I set up cemented-in, metal poles and used 4 cheaper shades. When the Monsoon season hit, the shades' corner linkage tore out and they were flapping everywhere and became unusable.
This summer, I bought 3 Coolaroo shades. These shades are clearly better built with regard to how the corner linkage attaches to the shade and came with quite a bit of hardware (carabiners and turnbuckles). Today, when my wife called me to tell me the Coolaroo shades were flapping about, I thought, "Monsoon season again and even these shades can't take it;" however, when I got home, I discovered that all 3 shades held but hardware attaching two of the shades failed. Again, the shades themselves were fine but the turnbuckles simply gave releasing them and I was able to easily reattach the shades.
Create's excellent shade D.S. #2010-07-06- High quality shade sail. Creates about a 10 to 20 degree temp. difference under sail. Looks really sharp, i put up 3 overlapping and get compliments from everyone who sees them. The only issue i have is they where very difficult to put up. The directions could have been a little more detailed, they supply some hardware but i still needed to buy another $150 worth of connections and poles to install the 3 sails. If it wasn't for that issue i would have given it 5 stars, and i do recommend these for anyone looking to create shade in there yard, just make sure your handy enough to install them.
High Quality Backyard Tents Micah Spears #2011-05-17- The tent material is of high quality and the stainless steel hardware is a nice bonus. I ended up spending the extra money for stainless 3 1/2" screws, 3/16" wire, and connecting hardware (e.g, eyebolts). I painted the galvanized 1 1/2" schedule 40 pipe with a cold-galvanized paint for a "finished" look and added durability.
When installing, be sure to add 10% to the 16' 5" length when measuring for pole placement in the ground. We were satisfied with ~2.5 feet deep holes since the last ~1.5 feet was pure limestone that required an electric jackhammer. And, an extra hand or two is recommended when stretching the tents with a ratchet.
The tent warranty period is 10yrs. Time will tell...
Attractive and effective! katydid26 #2010-12-03- We have a large deck that gets too much sun during the summer months. The heat is unbearable at times and it's almost too bright to see. In search of a solution, short of installing a permanent canopy, we found the Coolaroo brand shade sails on Amazon. We purchased two of them: the 11'10" and the 16'5". It took a little work to figure out exactly where we wanted to mount them, but once in place, we could not be more pleased! The sails look fantastic. They are very high quality. They do a wonderful job of keeping temperatures more comfortable and lessening glare. We bought them in July 2010 and only recently took them down for the winter. This is another bonus: Since they're not permanent, we can put them up or take them down as the seasons change. Excellent product!
really work Samantha S. Sillett #2011-06-08- I bought one to create shade in the corner of the paddock of my miniature horse. It creates generous shade and truly is cooler underneath. The breeze makes it through the canvas so the horse isn't in a shady oven but stays even cooler. The canvas is very thick as well as the stitching and construction. These are not like the riveted tarps you find at the hardware store; not even close. These are made to last. The color is a gorgeous sandy gold. We've paid far more for heavy duty tarps that simply didn't last. We bought several more and have one in each paddock. The horses use them every day and prefer them to the tree shade or old tarp shade. No worries about wind storms; these are standing up to the strong Texas wind. If I find any issues with them, I'll update this review. This is a temporary solution since we just moved and our barn isn't up yet. Once we get our buildings up, we will be able to use these tarps around the pool.
Coolaro Shade Rich G. #2010-08-25- Excellent product. I bought one last year and decided to add a second one this year for more shade. Delivery, as with the first one, took only a few days. The first one has held up so well, you can't tell the difference between the year old one and the new one. Amazing how much these cut the heat.
Great Deborah S. Cox #2010-08-22- We have several others, and this one was a great addition to our pond area.
do-it-yourself, ladies! Shelly #2010-06-28- Although the color online is a little misleading (it is actually more of a khaki type look), it was very easy to hang and does the job. You can also extend it very easily if a little more width is needed - I just bought a chain to bridge the gap between trees. It comes with all the handles you need if you're attaching to trees. I am now enjoying my hammock without fear of debris falling into my drink!
Shade in the desert Kathleen Holiman #2010-09-22- Trees take time to grow especially in the desert. After years of growth in a our new house, the Ash looks tiny. The shade sails have made it possible for our dogs and us to be comfortable in our back yard. It has also made shade so that I can begin to grow plants and color in the backyard. We are very pleased with this product.
My shade sail J. Cantrelle #2010-05-07- We are very happy with our purchase from Amazon. Was a great price for the Coolaroo Triangle Shade Sale. It's looks just great over our patio. Plan to get at least one more in the near future. Also was so happy that it was in stock & was delivered so fast. Thanks again for such a great product!!
Coolaroo Shade Todd A. Marflake #2010-04-17- I had my doubts about the quality because of the low price, but I couldn't be more pleased. Even the included hardware was surprisingly far nicer than expected.
Great for Shade Claudia Bea Ehrlich #2010-07-01- I have three of them and they work great to help keep the pool cool
Nice product Smart Shopper "AUTHE #2010-06-29- Very durable fabric that comes with stainless steel hardware. Serves it's purpose and priced much less than others I have seen.
DIY MamaV #2011-08-18- We are very happy with the shade sail, but if you don't do alot of DIY projects this is a big one. You will need more hareware then what is included. We are enjoying the sail and will add another in the near future. The price point is the best I found. The quality is worth the price and it has held up well through a few summer storms in AZ. The only negative is that the directions are not detailed enough, there needs to be more information.
Shade sail Doug #2011-07-08- I installed the Coolaroo 16 froot triangle shade sail on my back patio. Great product and easy to install. Will be purchasing another one to complete the shading of that deck. Nice that all hardware came with product. Great product for the price.
awesome easy as pie to set up Keith L. Rowley "kei #2011-06-09- Love these things, very durable! Easy to set up and they help cool my house. Great value and quality for your money
Great product _ high quality S. Pack "xxvii" #2010-08-29- The install for the sail was a little tricky due to the fact that getting the posts in the right position to cover our patio took a few tries but in the end it came out looking and working great. It's been up for about six weeks but we haven't had any powerful storms to really test its strength. The hardware that comes with the sail are very high quality. During the winter months I plan to unclip from the posts and take it down for storage.
Nice and Cool ACDoc #2010-08-06- This is our second shade sail. Just ordered a third to complete the shade for our back patio. This is a quality product, and comes with all stainless steel hardware. We love ours. Very "artsy" and great shade.
Great solution when you need shade J. Creighton #2010-08-01- I purchased these shades for my son who is covering a patio area. He has placed several shades and they do a marvelous job. They make an unusual looking solution for providing shade, and also allow a flow of air. Very smart looking. Amazon's price was the best that we could find online, as well.
Material, size, not what I expected alimac #2010-08-09- i ordered the coolaroo shade sail thinking this was going to funk-up my backyard and make it look hip and modern. I had seen it in a pic of a friend's backyard and it looked great. I had a hard time determining the right size - on the online info there were no recommendations that i could find regarding suitable sizing of sail to space, and even when i received it it wasn't clear what the size was, so i had to try to pull all 16ft around the backyard to figure out how to hang it. It was too big for my yard in the end and after spending 78 dollars to have it shipped to Canada, i gave it to my parents to use. I was surprised by the fabric - very plastic and synthetic looking, not canvas-y as I expected.
Overall, I was disappointed with the whole thing, though it may just have been due to my high expectations as I know there were lots of positive even raving reviews I had read online. good luck w your shade sail!

Rats will chew it. Stephen F. Ballachey #2011-01-12- other than that, this product has been up and linked (we bought two) for 12 years. During that time, I had the wrong container for winter storasge one winter and had rodent damage. Since then, I have had no problems with mildew, rot, stretching or fade. And when we refinanced we got a passive solar rating. Too cool. I would do it all over again.
